Meet in India gets fabulous opening at Khajuraho

Ministry of Tourism in association with ICPB and MP Tourism is organising ‘Meet in India’ – the distinct sub-brand under ‘Incredible India’ to promote the country as a MICE destination  

Meet in India – the latest campaign on the list of Ministry of Tourism and India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) is a commendable initiative designed to promote India as a prominent global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination. With very apt and relevant brain storming business sessions the conference is poised to become a huge success.
Maiden edition of the campaign which is being organised from 25th-27th March 2021 at Chhatrasal Convention Centre, Khajuraho kick started today in the august presence of Rupinder Brar, ADG – Ministry of Tourism, G. Kamala Vardhana Rao – C&MD of India Tourism Development Corporation, Amaresh Tiwari – Vice Chairman ICPB and a galaxy of industry stalwarts from across the country.
Second day of the conference is extremely important and creates huge excitement among the participants as Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) will inaugurate the much awaited, iconic ‘Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho.
According to the organisers, the ongoing event will deliberate the draft Master Plan being prepared by the Ministry of Tourism to develop Khajuraho as an iconic destination and will provide a tremendous boost to the MICE potential of the Temple City of Madhya Pradesh.
The first day of the event started with a brain storming business session on ‘Responsible Tourism at Khajuraho’. Rupinder Brar – ADG MOT, G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, C&MD, ITDC, Sonia Meena – AMD MPTB, Rajiv Mehra – President IATO, Anirudh Chaoji, Member Governing Council, Responsible Tourism Society of India, Neha  Arora – Planet Abled and Manjari Gaikwad, Director, Global Himalayan Expedition were among the panelist who elaborated on the subject. The session was focused on discussing various initiatives to position Khajuraho as an iconic destination.
While speaking at the session Rupinder Brar, ADG, Ministry of Tourism gave a brief introduction of ‘Swadesh Darshan’ and ‘Iconic Destination Development Schemes’ initiated by Ministry of tourism Government of India. C&MD of ITDC, Rao shared his views on Kerala as one of the model for Responsible Tourism.
There will be a ‘Key Note’ address by Ashwani Lohani, followed by the business sessions on ‘Making Khajuraho as Iconic Tourist Destination’ graced by Minister of Tourism and Culture (I/C) Prahlad Singh Patel and ‘Technical Discussion: Khajuraho Iconic Destination Master Plan and Stakeholder Consultation’  on the second day of the event. The programe at Khajuraho will also see several side events including cultural and fitness activities like yoga, cycle tour, heritage walk, tree planting among others.
