IATO has very thoughtfully chosen the theme for its 37th Convention to be held in Uttar Pradesh as ‘Inbound Tourism – What Lies Ahead’, says Prateek Hira, Co-Chairman 37th IATO Convention & Uttar Pradesh Chapter Chairman–IATO
While further elaborating on the theme chosen for the convention taking place in Lucknow from December 16th to 19th Hira further said, “This is the most relevant topic to deliberate on as I consider this, a period of ‘Renaissance of Tourism’ when the old order changes and we as tour operators have to reinvent, re-engineer and reboot our businesses to re-energize tourism.
“While domestic tourism has seen a fabulous recovery, inbound tourism is still waiting in the wings to revive, and I am quite hopeful we will in 2023-24 reach our 2019-20 figures to jump start our growth, but before that it is imperative that we prepare ourselves well and learn the new order, he added.”
While elaborating on the current tourism scenario, the Co-Chairman, 37th IATO Convention says, “Inbound business has not really picked up yet after the COVID subsided and the double whammy is the political and economic situation in Europe, Americas and parts of Asia that has created a new challenge for inbound tourism in India.”
“While many countries have gone all out to woo the tourists and to a very large extent their efforts have been successful too, but India has lagged behind, in fact slowed down its efforts on the inbound tourism front at least, which is quite worrisome and concerning for the travel and hospitality trade,” he concludes.
