TAFI to organise ‘Annual Convention’ in Sarawak, Malaysia

Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has made a remarkable announcement regarding the annual convention of the association after a gap of four years.  TAFI President Ajay Prakash has informed that the forth coming Convention will be organised at Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia from September 20-23rd. Theme of the convention is ‘Build – Back – Better’.
Seeraj Sabharwal and Jigar Dudakiya have been appointed as the Chairman Convention and Deputy Chairman Convention respectively.
“The theme ‘Build – Back – Better’ encapsulates the resolve to rebuild tourism in a more responsible and sustainable manner,” says Ajay Prakash while elaborating on the idea of the convention theme.
“As we seek recovery post-COVID, it is vital that the tourism industry does not forget the lessons of the pandemic. As one of the biggest global industries, the power of tourism to shape the world is phenomenal. It can be a powerful force for doing good, not only for the stakeholders but for the entire world,” he further explains.
While elaborating on the Convention destination, Chairman Convention Seeraj Singh Sabharwal said, “Relatively unexplored for the Indian traveller, Sarawak is an excellent destination for family travel, honeymooners, MICE, weddings and the film industry. TAFI has often organised conventions in unique and unusual locations to expand the portfolio of travel agents and tour operators of India.”
The three-day long event will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). “With its state of the art equipment and facilities BCCK is the first international purpose-built convention centre in Kuching, Sarawak. The convention centre can host up to 5000 people with an uninterrupted WIFI internet services for up to 8000 simultaneous users,” informed Jigar Dudakiya, Deputy Convention Chairman.
The TAFI Convention is supported by Tourism Malaysia, Sarwak Tourism Board, Business Events Sarawak, Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air and Air Asia. The Convention package will be inclusive of a 3 Nights Pre or Post Convention tours to beautiful places within Malaysia.
While sharing his thoughts on the number of delegates expected to attend the Convention, TAFI President Ajay Prakash says, “There is palpable excitement among our membership since a Convention is happening after four years and TAFI Conventions are always eagerly awaited. We expect an excellent turnout of delegates and Speakers.
“Sarawak is at the forefront of responsible, sustainable eco-tourism and is the ideal destination to begin our journey to ‘Build – Back – Better,” concludes Prakash.

 

TAFI with a membership of more than 1400 tour operators and travel agents account for approximately 70% of all outbound travel from India. The premier association of travel agents in India – TAFI, organises workshops, seminars and conventions for its members in different parts of the world. The reports suggest that each destination has experienced an exponential growth in numbers after TAFI Convention.
