Rajasthan aims to be among top three states in tourist arrivals: Gayatri Rathore

Rajasthan – one of the prominent states in tourism is readying to achieve the next level of growth while opening touristic activities to full swing post pandemic.
The Department of Tourism, under the guidance and support of the Government of Rajasthan has extended its support to the next edition of Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart – three day domestic buyers and sellers meet scheduled to be organised in the month of July.
While speaking, Principal Secretary Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Gayatri A. Rathore said that the state needs to improve its ranking for tourist arrivals.
“As of today, Rajasthan ranks 6th in the country in terms of foreign tourist arrivals and 10th in domestic sector. The Department of Tourism stands committed to improve the rankings for both categories of arrivals and take it to among the top three in the country. This is the aim with which the Department is proactively working,” said the Principle Secretary.
Highlighting the importance of tourism in Rajasthan she further informed, “Tourism contributes nine percent to the State’s economy and is responsible for providing directly and indirectly 50 lakh jobs. It is only appropriate that the Government has accorded high priority to the sector and the tourism-friendly budget which was declared recently.”
She informed that a large number of policies are on the anvil which will promote tourism in a big way. Among these policies are New Tourism Unit Policy, Home Stay Policy, Rural Tourism Policy, Heritage Scheme, and the full Tourism Policy.
While speaking at the signing of MoU between DOT and FHTR for the upcoming edition of RDTM, the Principle Secretary said that she considered FHTR, Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO), Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA), Hotel & Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR), etc. as partners of DOT in promoting this sector.
Rajasthan Tourism will join hands with FHTR to organize pre-event road shows in different parts of the country. District level investment meets will also be held for attracting the investment in the tourism sector.
