OTOAI convention headed to Cape Town

It’s an action packed year for the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) this year. The association, in its seventh year now, has a new team that is leading it with Ahmedabad based Pathfinders Holidays’ Mahendra Vakharia, replacing Weldon Tours & Travels’ Guldeep Singh Sahni as the new President of OTOAI a few months ago. And amidst a renewed buzz to work hard to increase the membership base of the association in 2018 that Vakharia had stressed in the first membership meet in Delhi recently, he had also manadated a vigorous digital push for the industry players, and particularly OTOAI members, lest they are left behind in the race.

However, importantly, the biggest announcement that has come most recently is the forthcoming OTOAI Convention that will take place in the picturesque Cape Town in South Africa on August 11-14. More details on the convention, like theme or agenda, are awaited. The convention will also have a three-night post-convention familiarisation tour to give the participants first and experience of the destination.

As there is greater anticipation around OTOAI because of a new leadership that has come as the first change since the first team took office when OTOAI was formed more than six years ago, OTOAI is looking even more nimble and aspiring for greater efficiency in association’s operation and deliverables towards its wider membership base. OTOAI has announced the 2nd Saturday every month as its EC Meeting day that will rotate between Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad. However Delhi will be the venue for most of the monthly RC meetings.
