Jyoti Mayal emerges as TAAI President with thumping majority

The entire Managing Committee from the Team Progressive panel got elected with comfortable margins in the elections held yesterday.

Jyoti Mayal, Director New Airways Travels and Past Hon. Secretary General of TAAI has been elected as the President of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) for the next term. The 68th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the oldest travel association of the country, followed by the election of the Office Bearers and Managing Committee for the term 2019 – 2021 was held on November 28, 2019 at Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai.
The clash of two senior leaders of TAAI Managing Committee (2017-19), had created a lot of buzz and interest among the members.
In a direct contest to the post of President, Jyoti Mayal has registered a thumping victory against Sanjay Narula, Past Vice President of TAAI and Founder Apex Travel & Tours. Jay Bhatia of Team Progressive was elected unopposed as Vice President, Bettaiah Lokesh and Shreeram Patel have won the Hony. Secretary and Hony. Treasurer posts respectively in the elections
held yesterday.
An experienced and industry veteran Jyoti Mayal was inducted as the Chairperson of the Northern Region (2009-2013) and served as a member of the Managing Committee (2013 – 2017).  She has been elected as the Hon. Secretary General of TAAI for the term 2017-19 and actively participated in various activities of TAAI including the two recent mega Conventions organised in Srinagar – Jammu & Kashmir and Kunming in China.
Mayal says that one of her dreams is to see that tourism sector gets industry status. It is expected that after winning the election, TAAI – under the dynamic leadership of New President Jyoti Mayal will take up the issue strongly with the Government bodies so that the tourism sector gets industry status and deserving benefits.
The entire Managing Committee – Anoop Kanuga (Mumbai), Rajan Sehgal (Delhi), P Murugesan (Chennai), Devesh Agarwal (Kolkata), Paras Lakhia (Ahmedabad), Sunil Notani (Bhopal), and R Venkatachalam (Trichy) – from the Team Progressive panel got elected with comfortable margins in the elections.
