Ministry of Tourism launches portal for tourists stranded in India

In these difficult times when the whole world is facing an unprecedented tough situation due to the outbreak of COVID19 which has affected more than 200 countries, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has come forward for the safety and convenience of one and all foreign tourists stranded in India amid the lockdown across the country. The Ministry has launched a microsite within its Incredible India website www.strandedinindia.com to help foreign tourist.
The website launched on March 30th, 2020 has details of the COVID19 helpline numbers, email ID’s, Whatsapp number, Bureau of Immigration helpline number and toll free tourist helpline numbers. Helpline numbers from various states are also available on the website.
According to the Director General Ministry of Tourism, Meenakshi Sharma, the Ministry has been receiving a lot of calls from tourists asking for help since the outbreak and the subsequent lockdown in India. As of today, there could be around 30, 000 foreign tourist stranded in various states of India.
