IATO heads to Kolkata for 35th Annual Convention

Pronab Sarkar – President of the association, will be the Chairman of the Convention along with Rajnish Kaistha and Debjit Dutta as the Co-Chairmen.

Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has announced that 35th Annual Convention of the association will be held in Kolkata from September 12th – 15th, 2019. Host State – West Bengal has extended full support to IATO for organizing its convention in the state to promote tourism among the industry stakeholders.
The venue of the convention is ITC Royal Bengal which is a brand new property. Inaugural function of the convention will be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre Kolkata on 12th September 2019 and all business sessions and other functions will be held at ITC Royal
Bengal Kolkata.
“Our last convention in Kolkata was held in 2002 and it will be an opportunity for most of our members to visit City of Joy after 17 years and we may see lot of development and new tourism products that have come up in West Bengal,” said Pronab Sarkar. “Theme of the convention and the topics for the business session are being finalized,” he added.
Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of India’s West Bengal state. Founded as an East India Company trading post, it was India’s capital under the British Raj from 1773–1911. Today it’s known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries and cultural festivals. It’s also home to Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, whose tomb is on site.
Established in 1982, IATO today has international acceptance, and linkages. It has close connections and constant interaction with other Tourism Associations in the US, Nepal and Indonesia, where USTOA , NATO and ASITA are its member bodies; and is increasing its international networking with professional bodies for better facilitation to the International traveller visiting not only India but the entire Region.
The inauguration will be in the evening of the 12th September 2019 and the last session ends on the 14th September 2019 followed by closing dinner.
