First edition of RDTM kicks off in Jaipur today

4982 online meetings already prefixed, number expected to further grow

Innaugural ceremony of Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart

Jaipur: The inaugural function of the maiden edition of Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM), aimed at growing Rajasthan’s share of domestic tourism from the rest of India, kicked off earlier today evening at the Brij Convention Centre in Jaipur’s iconic Clarks Amer hotel.
A first of its kind initiative in the country, RDTM has been planned in the ‘pre-fixed B2B meetings’ format between suppliers from across the state and hosted buyers from all over the country.
The two-day B2B meetings, July 21-22, will start from tomorrow at the BM Birla Auditorium, Jaipur. RDTM is being organised by Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), a consortium of leading industry bodies of Rajasthan represented by Indian Heritage Hotels association (IHHA), Hotels & Restaurants Association of Rajasthan (HRAR) and Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO).
Speaking on the occasion, FHTR President, Bhim Singh, informed that the first edition has brought together a total of 160 suppliers that include hotels, resorts, heritage properties, leading DMCs, tour operators and travel agents, Rajasthan Tourism, cottage industry and gem and jeweller representative, among others, from across the state to showcase their diverse range of tourism products to about 210 hosted buyers, including members of press, from all over the country.
He also informed that about 4982 meetings have already been prefixed online between the buyers and sellers that will take place over the next two days and this number is expected to further grow by the time the mart concludes on July 22nd.
FHTR Secretary General Gyan Prakash said that the RDTM is an idea that has been conceived by FHTR.” The objective of this event is to promote Rajasthan, promote Rajasthan and promote Rajasthan for tourism and of tourism. And in order to do that we hand hold with the government. And our objective is to keep the industry growth going and reach the highest level,” he added.
Close to 500 guests attended the inaugural function at the Brij Convention Centre. Dr. Suman Billa, Joint secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, was the Chief Guest.
The event was also attended by Kuldeep Ranka, Principle Secretary – Tourism, Government of Rajasthan; Pradeep Kumar Borar IAS, Special Secretary & Director- Tourism, Government of Rajasthan; Dr Lalit Panwar, Patron, FHTR and former Tourism Secretary, Government of India; Randhir Vikram Singh, Sr. Vice President, FHTR and Jt. Managing Director, Hotel Castle Mandawa; Apurv Kumar, Executive Committee Member, FHTR and Jt. Managing Director, Clarks Group of Hotels and Gyan Prakash, General Secretary, FHTR.
