In a landmark development, two home-grown Indian companies, Akasa Airline and Uppercase – the luggage and travel gear brand that emphasizes design and environmental consciousness, have come together to launch a sustainable cabin crew luggage line.
Exclusively designed for Akasa Air’s cabin crew, the company said the custom line by Uppercase was developed with direct input from crew members to meet the unique demands of frequent flying.
The cabin stroller features a hard-shell exterior in Akasa’s signature colours, dual wheels for sturdy & smooth mobility, TSA-approved locks, and smart compartments for shoes, laundry, and essentials. It is paired with a matching tote bag that fits securely on top, offering additional storage and structure for daily crew use, the release notes.
Commenting on the initiative, Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Akasa Air, said, “This initiative truly reflects our deep commitment to employee centricity. We’ve listened to our crew’s needs and incorporated their inputs to ensure the bags are not only incredibly convenient and functional for their demanding roles, but also exude style and even a touch of fun.”
Speaking on the same lines, Sudip Ghose, Founder and Managing Director, Uppercase, said, “At Uppercase, we believe that great design must serve both purpose and people. This collaboration with Akasa Air was a natural fit with both brands being young, future-facing, and driven by values of sustainability and innovation. The luggage was custom-designed in close partnership with the airline’s crew, with every detail tailored to their needs and proudly made in India.”
Akasa Air owned by SNV Aviation Private Limited was co-founded by the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, along with Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh.
The company Uppercase is owned and managed by Sudip Ghose, who serves as the Founder and Managing Director. He is also a co-founder along with Dheeraj Goyal, Arnob Mondal, and Nidhi Rajora.
